Stress Implicated in Many Chronic Diseases

A large part of the illnesses that afflict Americans every year is directly or indirectly linked to stress. Over the years, stress has been implicated in the development of high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, miscarriages, and a whole slew of other diseases. A large part of the stress is caused by working conditions.

Because of their efforts to save money, many companies have been drastically reducing the sizes of their work force. But they haven’t been reducing the amount off work that the people left behind are responsible for. This means that the people left behind are facing even more pressure as they try to do the work of two people. And the people that are laid off don’t escape the pressure either. They are now under stress of finding a new job to pay for the foods, medicines, an lodging for their family.

Because stress does play a huge role in all of our lives, it’s imperative that, if we can’t prevent it, we at least learn to control it.

Researchers have determined that there are many ways of lessening the stresses in our bodies. For example, the simple stretching of your body can be very effective in relaxing you. When you stretch, you loosen up the lung muscles which helps to expand the lungs and forces you to take deep breaths. All of this loosens up the internal organs of the body. And there are many other exercises as well, that the average person can turn to in helping them to rid themselves of their tension.

far too may individuals, when they’re under stress, look to illegally obtained prescription and drugs for relief. And while its certainly true that they may provide you with release for a time, the damage that they can do to the body is simply not worth it. If your stress trouble is systemic and prolonged, the best thing to do is to make an appointment with your physician work out what you need to do in order to get the stress out of your life.
