Pest Control Review in Bolton, Farnworth, Bury and Radcliffe Spring & Summer 2010
Pest Control in the North West has seen a lively start this year which is rather surprising given the relatively cold (weather of this last winter|winter of 2009/10}.
Pest and vermin operatives were kept busy with the usual city centre rodent calls during the winter of 2009/10, but the relatively cold early part of the year has already brought some ant infestations reported.
The fairly wet summers of the last few years were not to the taste of the hymenoptera (bees, ants, sawflies and wasps) but this year looks like being a active year for ant callouts.
Often ants build their nests under the floors of homes and inside cavity walls causing a large number of foraging ants to enter food store areas.
However it is at mating time when they are at their most troublesome as they produce winged males and winged queens which then mate in flight.
The emergence of several thousands of these flying ants inside homes can be horrific indeed.
A somewhat new pest was quite prevalant in the the North West area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).
It was not common for pest controllers in Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire to deal with these pests until lately but they seemed to arrive from nowhere in recent years and already this March has seen reports of these insects in unprecedented quantities.
These insects have a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, known as woolly bears can eat natural fibres and can do substantial damage to carpets and some fabrics. They can be a difficult and persistent pest to get rid of.
Those who work in in pest control note that Bed Bugs are continuing their renaissance in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area, often arriving as stowaways in the suitcases of home-coming holiday makers.
Often the first reaction of unlucky people who realise that they have been infested with these horrible,blood-sucking pests is to get rid of the old beds and get.
This can be an unneccesary mistake as despite their name bed bugs do not just stay in beds and in an infested bedroom will be found everywhere within about five yards of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical wall sockets and the new beds will be rapidly re-infested.
A lot of people mistake bed bugs with dust mites which cannot be seen by the naked eye. They both a different form of pest control.
They dine exclusively on blood which they syphon from their sleeping victims. People regularly associate bed bugs with dirty conditions but nothing could be less true, they do not need grime, their food is you!
Until April 30th 2010 Stockport & Manchester Pest Control are giving a 25% reduction on their guaranteed ant prevention treatment.
This revolutionary treatment which is guaranteed for three years, extendable indefinitely in additional three year chunks by a low cost re-treatment every three years, can be performed on most buildings subject to free site survey
