Organic Gardening and Organic Food
The majority of the population of the US today is obese and unhealthy. The food which contain the highest fat content are frequently the cheapest to purchase. So to save money we purchase the high fat foods. Then on top of that, our fat inducing food is tainted with pesticides, antibiotics, hormones and many times deadly bacteria. We tend to purchase our fresh produce and vegetables at local grocery stores, fast food chains or restaurants. The grocery stores and restaurants don’t tell you where your food comes from or how your food was grown and what pesticides and fertilizers were used to grow your food. Your beef may come from Mexico, your grapes from Argentina and your tomatoes from Chile. Even when these foods come from the United States, that is no guarantee that e coli, salmonella, mad cow or some other as of yet unknown disease hasn’t infected them.
What’s the solution? Your very best solution is nutritious, safe and inexpensive food grown in your very own garden. In today’s fast paced life most of us don’t have the time or the energy, and the available land and green thumb to plant our own garden;and then be able to harvest our own delicious, nutritious and the most importantly SAFE for your family foods. As late as 50 years ago, gardening was one of the most important projects for most families. It was for my family when I was growing up on a small farm in central Mississippi. It provided much need food and nutrition at a low cost and our family always knew where our food came from. We also raised our own chickens and eggs, pork, and fresh milk and butter. We knew it was safe food for our family to eat. Today, with our busy schedules, very few families can afford the luxury of tending their very own garden.
