There is a range of commercial properties available and office to rent in Manchester and the northwest of England. But what are the different types of commercial property available.

Commercial property is a broad term refering to any piece of land, or any buildings placed on it or any property, that is being used exclusively for a commercial use. Inside this broad category you find many contrasting sorts of commercial property. All defined by its commercial usage.

The most common property that bridge commercial and residential multi-family commercial real estate. This includes buildings such as apartment blocks. Whilst people dwell in these buildings, it is technically commercial property as it’s operated and run as an income generator for the property owner.

Next lets consider Retail property in the Manchester, which is a property occupied by commercial tenants who sell directly to consumers . Standalone shops, a row of shops and shopping centres are retail properties.

Office blocks and office spaces are likewise thought of as commercial property. An office can comprise of anything from a skyscraper down to a single room. Office properties come in lots of different sizes and the number of people who can work in them varies significantly.

All goods need to be made somewhere and that manufacturing takes place in industrial properties. Industrial properties are buildings such as warehouses and factories. As well as distribution centres and warehouses.

When you find buildings in use for commercial or business purposes all situated together you will normally have found a business park. Business parks are normally well considered in layout and named  “Our Town Business Park”. A variation on this is the IT  park where all the businesses are IT or high tech related businesses. This done to foster interactions and knowledge sharing between businesses.

As well the commercial properties defined in the preceding paragraphs, there are other types which are not so easy to categorise. For example, storage facilities, car parking and petrol stations.

Locating Commercial property in the UK can be a struggle. However using an online database and the quarterly magazines from the Commercial Property Register can make it easier. Online you can search a database of more than 6,000 commercial properties of all types, browse details of the properties and then request further details direct from the agent representing the property.
