Electric Guitars - Who Knew

A recent addition to the family of instruments, the electric guitar came on the scene in the early 1920’s but gained much of their current popularity with the rock-and-roll of the 60’s and 70’s. They are widely used in a variety of different types of music including pop, country western, rock and roll, and the blues. They have even made their way into the current Christian music scene.

While a good acoustic guitar can be quite expensive, electric guitars are generally more expensive than are acoustic guitars. The difference in the price ranges, however, allows the purchaser to buy a relatively good electric guitar at a lower price point. A main difference, however, is that you also need to account for the purchase of an amplifier which is usually not the case with traditional guitar. You should always look for Musician’s Friend coupon codes so that you don’t pay too much.

You have a selection of several types of electric guitars. There are solid body guitars, hollow body guitars, or metal body guitars, each of them produces a different sound. The guitarist may choose one over the other, depending simply on the type of music.

The metal bodied electric guitars have “weight relief” holes bored into them at various places on the body of the guitar. These holes are necessary for reducing the weight of the instrument but they also give the guitar its unique sound.

Hollow bodied electric guitars are lighter weight and the pick-ups are attached so to add the plucked string and the vibration of the instrument into the sound variation typical of these instruments. For the guitarist who wants a lighter weight electric guitar, this is the prefered choice.

Be sure and check with Musician’s Friend for their tremendous variety. You can go wrong with any choice of electric guitars that you make.
