You may have been bitten recently, if so there is a good chance that it was from a flea, fleas are often brought into the home on the back of a pet, cats and dogs are often used by fleas as a form of transportation, the fleas jump up onto the back of the pet and hitch a lift into your home.

Dog fleas along with cat fleas are very common on pets, they jump long distances and heights and leap from one animal to another or from long grass in the parks and fields where the cats and dogs walk onto the pets. The pets then bring the dog fleas in to your home where they jump off into your carpets.

There are many ways to treat fleas in and around your home the dog fleas treatment you decide to use will depend on your situation. If you have young children in the infected area you may not want to use toxic chemicals, however in some situations it is best to use the chemicals and ensure that all the fleas are killed quickly.

If you suffer from a flea bite it may be the first warning that you have a flea infestation in your home, the flea bite may be no more that a small red patch that swells slightly, it will be irritating and itch for up to two weeks. However some people do suffer from allergic reactions and fleas can also spread disease.

Getting bitten by a flea should be your cue to start with a flea treatment, the dog fleas and flea bites you get from them may be nothing more than an irritation if you only have one or two fleas but if you leave it these one or two fleas can become hundreds in just a couple of weeks, do not leave the problem to grow act now and sort it out.
