Crabs and Other Seafood from The Northeast

We tried to get crabcakes when in Maine and being in the Northeast, seafood is our passion. It was wonderful! You haven’t tasted crab cakes until you get it from the source. Maine was in our thoughts when we got back home and we miss the crab cakes.

So, we decided to look up a easy crab recipe online. Now, that was hard. Most of the recipes were difficult and told us to buy a certain type of crab meat which was really expensive. I think we’ll have to go back to Maine soon. Whether you are looking to serve crab cakes at your next dinner party or informal get-together, you can find many different recipes with crab cakes online. Don’t forget that crab cakes are commonly given as appetizers, but they are alright for an informal dish, or if added to a larger dish. If you are going to serve them as appetizers, you want to make sure you also offer interesting sauces or dips to go along with the tasty cakes. Crab soup: Ingredients 1/2 kg crab meat, cooked and flaked, cartilage removed 1-1/2 cup chicken stock 2 cups water 2-1/2 cups tomatoes, chopped 3/4 cup chopped celery 3/4 cup onion (chopped fine) 1 cup corn kernels 1 cup peas For Seasonings: 1 teaspoon seasoning (a dash paprika and celery) 1 bay leaf 1/4 tsp pepper 1 tsp lemon juice Method Put chicken stock, water, tomatoes, celery, onion, and seasonings in a vessel, and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Add corn and peas. Simmer 10 minutes more (or till the corn is cooked). Add crab meat, simmer until heated through. Remove bay leaf. Serve hot.
