What Are The Advantages of Home Massage Therapy Machines

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2009 in Thinkable

Massage can be quite helpful to individuals who have trouble with muscle tension and tightness, yet it can be too expensive to get massaged by a professional. Some of the very same benefits are available to anyone with a credit card by taking advantage of home massage devices. The quality on these machines has only gone up over the years, and they can now truly provide a high quality automated massage experience right there in your home.

Muscle tension and tightness is one of the most common complaints that patients tell their doctors about. A lot of times there is nothing medically wrong. Aches and pains just can’t be avoided. But all that pain might very well interfere with your ability to live normally and enjoy your life.

Therapeutic massage is easily among the best remedies for these problems. It can be an effective way to alleviate discomfort and help you move about normally again. The majority of patients will also tell you that it is profoundly calming and restorative. Naturally, I don’t need to remind you to make it a point to check in with your doctor beforehand to make sure that there are no medical problems underlying your symptoms. And then when you hear back from your doctor that there are no medical problems, some basic kneading may be a suitable answer for your problems.

As we have noted, however, professional massage therapy can cost an arm and a leg, especially in this poor economy. If you are in need of frequent massage therapy, you could end up paying a fortune. However, you’ll be happy to know, lots of people have come to swear by the results that affordable home massage equipment can provide. I’m particularly thinking about: SunBeam SBH1701 Massaging Foot Spa

Home massagers range from tiny handheld and portable massagers that apply basic percussive pressure, to costlier devices that massage specific body parts. You may find, for example, that you can find specific massagers for the head and neck, massagers for your feet and calves, or back massage pads. Although certain people may feel oppressed by the upfront cost of high end massage devices, you will find that these machines can pay for themselves pretty quickly when you end up going to the masseuse less frequently. One example is here: Zero Gravity Massage Chairs

The best method for you to see if a certain make and model of massager is going to do the trick is to try it out. Many sellers will have working machines which you can test out on your own variety of muscle tension to see if the type of massage a given machine provides will ease your pain. Other than that, you can read the reviews that people post to see how well it works for people experiencing your type of pain, and surmise in that way to what extent a particular massaging device may be able to help you with your problems.

Ethical Wills

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2009 in Thinkable

You probably did not wait until you officially became a ‘senior citizen’ to prepare your will. Most of us put one together early in life and at least when we have families and realize we do have assets and we need to make sure the kids are taken care of in the case of an accident that suddenly takes you out of their lives. So you know well what goes into your will and how to document exactly how you want your property and other assets passed down of in the event of your death.

There is a sense of joy that goes with knowing that you have made sure your family will have the word of dividing your estate finalized already long before you need to them to be. Senior citizens today are in the best health of any other generation. So while you are still thinking clearly about the future, now is the time to make sure your insurance, funeral directives and wills are all in order. Be sure to have that information on file and a designated loved one well trained in the event of your premature demise.

But there is one will you may have left out of your preparations so far. That is what is called your Ethical Will. An Ethical Will or Moral Directiveis unlike any other document you will prepare. This instrument has no legal bearing on your estate. It does not pass alongproperty or instruct your executor on how you want yourproperty affairs to be handled. Instead, your Ethical Will passes along to your loved ones something more precious than property. It passes along your core beliefs.

Today’s wills have become all about money when, formerly, a will communicated a person’s most deeply held beliefs. While with a normal estate plan you may be preoccupied with things like inheritance taxes your Ethical Will is going to be more like a conversation

An Ethical Will is a very unique moral charter or set of documents that is used to resolve issues that may be remaining at end of life, to communicate the ethics and morals behind your legal decisions or to provide matureinstructions to your children or friends about how you want them to carry on your legacy of charitable work or value based activities once you are gone.

You might say, the Ethical Will requires more thought, prayer and consideration of what you actually want to say to your loved ones than your conventional will. Typically, you prepare an Ethical Will to be given or read to your loved ones after funeral as way of giving them one last touch of who you really are as a person. So you can see that an Ethical Will can be a precious memory that will be treasured long past when your wealth or possessions are no longer around.

Your Ethical Will may be passed from generation to generation. Just imagine if you had a document written by your grandparents or great grandparents that spoke with heart and from a personal perspective about what they found wonderful about life, where their values took them and what they would pass to you from their heart to you, their child far off in the future. That document would be of tremendous value to you and would be precious to your children and grandchildren down the line.

Ethical Wills can also be used to seek forgiveness for wrongs committed that you just could not resolve in life. Conversely, you can give forgiveness where it may be needed and heal a life long rift between you and a family member and provide peace and closure as you go to your reward. You do not have to prepare just one Ethical Will. You could prepare a separate one for each child, for your spouse and for your business associates and friends. Obviously each will address a different level of intimacy and arena of values and ethics.

It is a good thing to think about if you want to leave an Ethical Will for your people you care about. There good guidelines on the market about how to get started writing your Ethical Will. And if you take the time to put down on paper your heart and soul in this way, it will be source of comfort for a level of your ‘affairs’ that you put inorder well in advance that is even more meaningful than your conventional will or other end of life documents.

Are mortgage rates going up or down?

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2009 in Thinkable

Mortgages are getting more complicated as lenders look more closely at your ability to repay.

It sounds like an oxymoron to say – lenders are looking more closely at your ability to repay. You would have thought that anybody lending a homeowner $500,000 would have always looked closely, in fact real y close. Not so it seems by our current economic situation where banks could in the last decade resell your mortgage to large syndicates to supposedly spread the risk around.

In the end maybe it is not such a bad thing to refocus our attention on the implications of taking out a large mortgage in uncertain times.

At Kelleway Mortgage Architects, Glen Kelleway has been helping his homeowner clients for years navigate the requirements of a mortgage application. Shopping around for the best lenders has always been a given. Economic downturn aside, it always pays to get the best deal when borrowing large sums of money.

Refinancing a current mortgage to lock in interest savings is a technique that many are using to take advantage of the lower interest rates currently available. Setting up tax deductible mortgage payments is also a popular strategy in Canada that many are employing to stretch their household budget by being more creative with their monthly pay cheques.

Recently licensed in the Province of Alberta, Glen Kelleway is surviving the current economic uncertainty by providing personal service. If you’re needing a new mortgage in British Columbia or a mortgage in Alberta contact Glen today. It a phone call that could save you thousands of dollars in the next few years.

Ethically Approved Phase I Clinical Trials

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2009 in Thinkable

Clinical Trials by Europe’s leading Clinical Research Organisation

Richmond Pharmacology is a clinical research organisation that conducts Phase 1 clinical trials for healthy and patient volunteers and became the 1st  CRO in Europe to be ethically approved for a volunteer trial in females aged fourteen to seventeen.

Richmond Pharmacology also provides Specialist TQT studies

This landmark decision by Great Ormond Street Ethics Committee to allow this study to be conducted paves the way for future studies of this age group.

A great achievement for Richmond Pharmacology was the recruitment of the first healthy young volunteers just sixteen days after gaining ethics approval on 28 Feb 2009.

The study being conducted by Richmond Pharmacology aims to determine the effect a study drug, (a new oral contraceptive pill), has on the body and if there is a difference in what happens to the drug in females aged 18-50 compared to females aged 14-17.

The study itself is a usual characteristic of many Phase one medical trials of these compounds, however it is the population being incorporated that makes this a key study.

The UK has been known to conduct top class clinical trials and studies for all phases   In recent years some trials that would typically be conducted in the UK have moved offshore to Eastern Europe and the Sub Continent. However the approval of this study marks a substantial shift in thinking and attitude towards clinical trial conduct in the UK and Richmond Pharmacology are proud to be at the centre of this pioneering move to once again make the UK THE place to conduct more specialised clinical trials

This study coupled with our recent success in a complex Multiple Sclerosis, (MS), study, involving the recruitment and dosing of 71 MS patients in one centre, (once again the first of its kind), is just another example of why more and more sponsors are turning to Richmond Pharmacology. Trials such as these establish Richmond Pharmacology as the only choice when sponsors look for a CRO that goes the extra mile.

Richmond Pharmacology’s founding Directors are still at the heart of the company. Their hands on approach coupled with a dedicated and highly skilled staff ensure we are able to meet the challenges set by sponsors.

What’s the best blu-ray recorder one can buy?

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2009 in Thinkable

Blu-ray, popularly known as BD or blue-ray discs, is a next-generation optical disc that has been developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association.  The group is composed of leading purchaser electronics giants, PC and media makers, like Philips, Samsung, Sony, sharp, HP, Hitachi and Panasonic, to cite a couple.  The blue-ray recorder format enables recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video ( HD ).  One major advantage that the technology has over conventional DVDs is that it allows for more storage capacity.  It can hold up to 25GB on a single layered disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.  The technology also incorporates complicated video and audio codes for the final high definition viewing experience.  The name Blu-ray is employed because the format uses a blue-violet laser, instead of a red laser as in the case of conventional DVDs.

Another major advantage with Blu-ray format lies in the indisputable fact that the entire technology is backwards compatible.  You can now play your old CDs and DVDs thru a BD/DVD/CD compatible unit.  The blue-violet laser has a shorter wavelength than a red laser, which enables it to concentrate on a disc area with bigger precision.  The data is also packed on the surface of a disc more firmly.  This explains the disc’s capability to store more information, although it is of the same size as a traditional CD. Blu-ray discs have a maximum capacity of 25GB and dual-layer discs can hold up to 50GB – enough for four hours of HDTV.  Like HD-DVD, Blue laser discs don’t need a caddy and the players and recorders will be able to play current DVD discs.  Codecs supported by Blu-ray include the H.264 MPEG-4 codec which will form part of Apple’s QuickTime 7, and the Windows Media 9 based VC-1.

Now that the twin layer Blu-ray disc writers have hit the market, it has definitely heated up the war between Blu ray and DVD writers, and each time you go buying electronic devices you will doubtless be suggested to buy one of these two types of products.  In fact, to the general public, owning dual layer Blu-ray disc writers would represent a major shift up in technology and with Blu-ray discs offering a ton more storage space, there is every reason why folk would buy them and thus the requirement will also arise for them to possess dual layer Blu-ray disc writers.

A key reason to consider making an investment in a Blu-ray player or recorder is to exploit its high definition capacities.  What good is that 50-inch HD plasma television if you can’t enjoy your movies in all their HD glory?  Major film studios support Blu-ray technology with many now releasing flicks exclusively in the Blu-ray format.  You won’t have to toss your DVD collection either as Blu-ray players are backwards-compatible with DVDs.  Also you aren’t needed to be anxious about your huge DVD collection as a Blue-Ray player is capable to run your DVDs too.  Thus you are free from the responsibility of getting all of your DVDs interpreted to Blue-ray version.
