WordPress is a free, open source Content Management System (CMS) that lets users quickly and easily create websites, primarily blogs. Development and maintenance is led by Matt Mullenweg, Donncha O’Caoimh and Ryan Boren, as well as a team of volunteer developers. WordPress utilizes the PHP scripting language in combination with a database access technology of the user’s choosing to dynamically create and deliver web-based content “on-the-fly.”
In plain English, that means that WordPress is a piece of software that runs on a web server and allows users to manage a website, typically a blog, without needing to worry about doing any programming on their own, writing any web pages, or even knowing any HTML or having any programming skills in particular. WordPress is a highly-customizable and extendable “front-end” that enables users to create and display web content without ever having to do anything technical whatsoever beyond the initial installation (which is often managed by the webhost itself).
WordPress gained a huge surge in popularity when rival software platform Movable Type changed its licensing terms, driving a significant number of its users away (mostly to WordPress); the growth surge for WordPress established a powerful momentum which has continued into the present, providing the platform with consistent and sustained growth in recent years as the “Web 2.0″ revolution has taken hold.
WordPress is currently in Version 2.8; this version was released on June 10th, 2009. Each major point version of WordPress is given a “code name” that the central team of web developers uses to refer to the software; the version code-names are invariably named after a famous Jazz or Blues musician. Version 1.2 (the first version of WordPress to support plugins) was code-named “Mingus” (after Charles Mingus); Version 2.7 was code-named “Coltrane” (after John Coltrane). Version 2.8 is referred to as “Baker.”

Drive smart, save green. It’s a great phrase, and if more people took up the challenge, the whole country – no, the whole world – would benefit immensely. How can you make a difference to the environment with your driving? This article provides you with 7 great tips that you can put into action right away. You’ll save money and help the environment too. OK, time to drive smart, save green…
1. It has to be said: the very best thing you can do to help the environment with your car is stop driving it! However, you may not have that option, so drive slower instead. Most cars perform best at speeds of between 50 mph to 60 mph. Not too slow and not too fast is how to drive smart, save green.
2. A staggering 20% of your car’s fuel consumption is used up just overcoming tire roll resistance! How can you drive smart, save green in these circumstances? Buy quality tires that get great reviews. They may cost a little more, but they will perform better. And remember too that under inflated tires will cost you more in gas bills!
3. Lighten the load in your car. I’ll bet there are things in your car’s trunk that don’t need to be there. Go through each item you regularly carry. If you don’t really need it, dump it. You can drive smart, save green with a lighter load. That will let your car be more fuel efficient.
4. Switch off your engine while you wait if you are likely to be waiting more than one minute. Restarting your engine burns roughly about the same amount as one minute of idle time, so if you think you will be idling for more than a minute, cut the engine. You’ll save gas and money – drive smart, save green.
5. Drive smoothly. This one shouldn’t need to be mentioned. It should be the unspoken part of drive smart, drive green. Erratic driving with sudden accelerating and hard braking uses up extra gas. It puts extra wear and tear on your car, which means extra costs to you and the environment.
Learning to drive smart, save green is largely common sense. If you really need your car, then learn to drive it responsibly and sensibly. However, if you can walk easily to where you need to go, then do so! Only drive smart, save green when you can’t walk.

Big wave surfing is a discipline in surfing where surfers paddle into or are towed onto waves which are at least 20 feet (6.2 m) high, on surf boards known as “guns” or “rhino chasers”. The bigger the wave, the faster it travels, and the bigger the surf board needed to catch it. Big wave surfing is a popular sport in Catlins. Ocean swells are waves on the surface of the ocean with long wavelength. It seems like the last time I talked to a sponsor they said that they weren’t really into sponsoring big wave riders which seems funny to me, because I think big wave surfing is the essence of surfing.
But they are more distant breaks where the surfers have to be towed into the waves by water scooters. At Waimea Bay, surfing is done as the Hawaiians did it centuries ago – by paddling furiously into a wave and hoping you get it before it gets you. Intimately documenting the lives of giant wave surfers as they seek out and ride monster waves Quest takes viewers into an elite subculture world of top athletes, big personalities and fierce passion for life and their sport. Hunting waves in the world’s most exotic locations, and during the awe-inspiring rides, viewers are taken on the trip of a lifetime never before captured as intimately and thoroughly as in Quest. On just 24-hours notice between January 1 and March 31, 2007, 24 legendary big-wave surfers will make the pilgrimage to the treacherous Mavericks surf break to compete for the famed title. This year, the invitees will compete for an impressive $75,000 prize purse.
