Are you doing your part to go green?

Posted by Thinker on Sep 3, 2009 in Thinkable

Even though I’m a lazy person by nature, I love the idea of doing a little bit more to make the world a greener place and saving energy. Recycling is just smart. We just have this one planet and we need to take care of it. I admit that I don’t recycle nearly enough and I’m not doing everything I can. I have two kids and need to be doing more to get them involved, too.

No matter what your level of employment or financial situation there’s always something you can do. Pick up trash in the park, recycle your newspapers and soda cans, even just turning off the lights in rooms you aren’t using. If you want to invest a little money in more energy efficient appliances you can consider getting a tankless water heater. They take up less space and only heat the water as you need it instead of constantly reheating water that’s waiting to be used.

Used solar panels are becoming much more popular again. Both for residential use and commercial. They capture the sun’s energy and turn it into something we can use. Do enough of it and you can even sell that energy back to the utility company. How cool is that?

There are dozens of different ways you can step up and help this planet. As I saw on TV once, you need to shrink your eco footprint. If you care about your future and that of your children, at least give it some thought and do a little research. It’s worth it.

I Need a Company That Does Background Checks

Posted by Thinker on Sep 3, 2009 in Thinkable

Background checks have become very important and most companies hiring people go in for a routine background check to see if the candidate is suitable or not. Strict and special background checks are done if the position is one of trust and importance. The changing world and the increase in the number of malicious acts around, services for background checks of every new person you are dealing with are used as a precautionary tool.

Mostly background checks are dictated usually on the following terms:

1.)They are also done to check on the credentials of the candidate, verify his claims and find out if he has some criminal record or has done any illegal activities. These checks are also done in cases of divorces, dating, marriage and other personal reasons. Background checks may be carried out routinely or specifically and in detail.

2.)Criminal and civil history records – any criminal activities or lawsuits, both criminal and civil, lodged against the prospective client / employee can be easily be scrutinized.

3.)Vehicle and credit records – licenses of motor vehicles and financial history can also test against any embezzlement or other such fraud, if committed.

4.)Education, credential and employment verification – the educational background, professional qualifications, employer references and other such credentials are usually studied for their genuineness and help the employers to sift the husk from grain.

5.)Unemployment and bankruptcy history – the gaps or time periods of unemployment in a curriculum vitae of the to be employee can be searched for accuracy. Any history of bankruptcy can also be taken into consideration.

This adds to the burden of the employer of providing a safe and healthy work culture to his/ her current employees and not risking their, companys or nations security.

Thus, there can be such instant criminal background records in virtually all the fields that one can think of. For instance, military, doctor, teaching, criminal and felony though the degree of such verifications vary in the level of job requirement. For example- the check of daily wagers background would have lesser requirements compared to the hiring of a countrys secret services agent.

You may do it when you want to hire a driver fro your vehicle or for a nurse for your elderly relative. Background checks have become important and you have a wide choice of companies and services that do this and even countries like the USA have a record database. For routine checks the fee may be nominal while for special cases it can be a bit higher.
