Confused about Health Insurance?

Posted by Thinker on May 22, 2009 in Thinkable

One of the biggest problem areas in our society today is health insurance. To make matters worse, it has gotten more complicated and expenses have skyrocketed. With so many types of insurance coverage today, it is no wonder we are so confused and frustrated!

If you need to take the mystery out of choosing the type of insurance that is right for you, do your online research. Paying for the health care you need is costly but, in the long run, getting the wrong insurance coverage is even more expensive.

When you reach the age in which you can actually start using the Medicare insurance you have paid for your entire career through a payroll tax deduction, you suddenly find out that there are a lot of things that are not covered. Medigap insurance (or Medicare Supplemental Insurance) is health insurance sold by private insurance companies to fill the “gaps” in Original Medicare Plan coverage. Insurance companies can only sell you a “standardized” Medigap policy. Medigap policies must follow Federal and State laws. You may be able to choose up to 12 different standardized Medigap policies (Medigap Plans A through L). Use our FREE medigap provider locator tool to help you find medigap insurance providers in your area.

Long term care insurance is another important type of insurance coverage. Long term care insurance is an insurance product which pays for long term care services in many settings, such as at home, a nursing home, assisted living facility, and adult day care facility. How does long term care insurance work? First, you must apply for coverage. If you are approved for coverage, pay your premiums, and you meet the insurance carrier’s criteria for benefit payment, you will be reimbursed for covered long term care services up to the amount of daily benefit after you satisfy the Waiting Period. Why should you buy Long Term Care Insurance? Long term care insurance helps cover expenses for services for which most health plans and Medicare provide only limited or no coverage. To find out more about long term care insurance, visit our long term care insurance section. You should find the answers to questions such as “when you should consider getting long term care insurance”, “how should you compare policies”, and other important questions. Be sure you are well informed before you make a decision about which insurance company and particular policy you should buy.

Call this newest Flu whatever you want; Mexican flu 2009, or Novel flu it is a growing epidemic

Posted by Thinker on May 22, 2009 in Thinkable

It does not matter what you call the disease; Mexican flu, or H1N1 virus; it will not affect what harm this flu will have on the human population.

For simplistic purposes following the regular pattern that the world has been using we will call this new strain the Mexican flu the same way that these Influenza epidemics have taken on a location name such as Spanish Flu, Asian Flu, Hong Kong flu and so on.

Due to the world wide growth of the Mexican flu and fatalities in 2 nations in the same region, the World Health Organization has raised the pandemic alert to pandemic level five. This level indicates that this organization believes the growth of the Mexican flu to infect the world is imminent.

For your safety you should read the following W.H.O. Checklist:
World Health Organization (W.H.O.)
Department of Communicable Disease
Surveillance and Response
Global Influenza Programme
WHO checklist for influenza pandemic preparedness planning.  Starts out with “Some time in the future.”  (Note: that some time is now!)

In a Presidential News Conference about the Mexican Flu, April 29, the president is asked “if the we should close the border?”  President Obama says, “Wash your hands, take precautions but because this is a new strain we have to be cautious, but not to panic.”  He does not think we should close the border.

An agent who was on the security advance team for President Obama’s recent trip to Mexico is believed of having become infected the Mexican flu and transmitted it to his family in Anne Arundel County, MD.  The man is on the staff of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, who traveled with Obama to Mexico on April 16. He appears to have paased on the flu to his wife, son and nephew, press secretary Robert Gibbs said.

Just the talk about and inability to agree on how to properly call the pandemic of the Mexican flu 2009 shows that even this little detail will cause controversy around the globe today.  The hardest part of the Mexican flu of 2009 is still ahead of us.  We hope that the governments of the world get their acts together and concentrate on what is important, saving human lives.

Handicapped individuals can use a stairlift as aid to sustain mobility in their house

Posted by Thinker on May 22, 2009 in Thinkable

A staircase lift is the perfect solution for old or disabled persons who want to live independently in their own home. The stairway lift has been a well-known product in most industrialized countries for many years. There are several vendors tendering chair lifts for stairs in those countries. If you are searching a stair lift in Germany, I can recommend the following site, which gives some fundamental info on German vendors: Treppenlift in Hameln.

It is very useful to get as many aspects as possible before making a final decision because a staircase lift is a expensive investment. Here are some more points to consider and some major benefits which arise from the use of a chair lift for stairs:

Not only is a stairlift a fantastic help for you to reach upper floors, but you can also use it to transport food, drinks and other stuff upstairs. When searching the best vendor, you should not only consider the price but also think about other aspects like if there is quick service available in case of malfunction. With a stair lift in your house you can get back mobility and easily reach every floor of the house. This is interesting not only for house owners but also for tenants of apartments with more than one floor. More info on some leading German providers can be found here: Treppenlift in Konstanz. The main sellers of chair lifts for stairs provide a countrywide service and distribution system. They should be able to show you an already installed stairlift at another customers home not far away from your location. Always ask if the first consultation is cost-free.

Many old people with physical problems can stay in their homes and familiar neighbourhood with the help of a stairway lift. Some of those people would have to leave their homes if such technical devices were not availabable. Each staircase lift must fulfill very specific requirements and must be manufactured and installed accurately. It is important to know whether you have a straight staircase or curved staircase. In case of a curved staircase, the whole project will be more expensive. It is recommended to choose one of the most important vendors with many years of experience. They will not only provide good service but may also offer a payment plan. People, whose ability to climb stairs is reduced for example by illness, accident or disability, will greatly benefit from a stairlift. It might be useful to consider reduced bodily ability, which might come with increasing age, and plan the purchase of a staircase lift early enough. So you should collect sufficient information and ask your children or grandchildren to help you.
