Posted by Thinker on Jan 24, 2009 in Thinkable

Tropical islands provide a wide range of activities for vacationers. The majority of islands can accommodate your needs, for those looking for more active island adventures need to look for large islands or large chains of islands. So you can get a wide variety of activities to do. Many tropical islands offer sailing tours to see dolphins or whales and sunset trips for couples and honeymooners looking to add romance into their trip. Larger islands such as Bali, Hawaii, and Reunion offer many more activities such as hiking, jungle trekking, wild life safaris, and surfing. For those who want something less challenging, you can always go body boarding. You can rent on or have someone take you out. By far the most popular activities involve the ocean. Some of the best diving in the world can be found in many amazing places. Have you heard of Scuba Diving in Fiji? or what about Scuba Diving in Australia or Scuba Diving in Thailand? Well, these are always great places to practice underwater sports.

alre Seychelles, the Maldives, Bali, Thailand, and Australia. Beaches offer a wide variety of activities beyond just getting a tan. Body boarding is when you get a small board and lay on it, letting the wave take you in. Snorkelers simply float on top of the water with a mask and fins and stare down and look at the wildlife below. In fact, surfing is a widespread activity on many of the largest and most popular destinations in the world.

For those looking to fish, you can also rent a boat and head out into the ocean to catch dinner. For those interested in traveling to islands, it’s important to thoroughly research the type of beach activities you want. Some of the best islands to hike around include Hawaii, Bali, Fiji, Bora Bora, Reunion, and Cebu. A lot islands offer deep sea fishing where you can catch “the big one. However, it is only the larger islands, most notably the ones in the pacific region, that offer this activity as many other islands in the world tend to be small and don’t offer the extensive amount of jungles and wildlife that these large islands can.

Shopping for Camping Gear at Campmor

Posted by Thinker on Jan 24, 2009 in Thinkable

A Campmor catalog arrived in the mail today.  These are great fun if you’re an enthusiastic outdoors person and you enjoy shopping. I bought a camping lantern from them once and learned they are very reliable and have great customer service.

The contents of the catalog has expanded greatly over the years.  In the past, their focus was primarily on camping – I imagine that explains their name.  The new catalog displays all sorts of winter gear from boots to jackets to thermals. They also carry hiking and biking gear as well.  Not bicycles, but helmets, spandex shorts, and the like.

I frequently check out Campmor first when I’m searching for new gear like a camping sleeping bag.  They have a large selection and really good prices.  The greatest drawback is the catalog pictures are all relatively small and in grayscale.  I guess that explains why I haven’t chosen to a larger ticket item from them before.

I just realized now that I could browse at a nearby camping accessories retailer to check out the products in person and then buy through the Campmor catalog if the price is better. Actually that’s a really good idea. Especially if I’m in the market for a tent or some sort of product it’s best to see in person first.

Over recent years I have started to do some affiliate marketing on the internet. Since I love camping and camping supplies, I built a website about this topic.  Campmor was one of the first companies I checked to see if they have an affiliate program.  I learned that they don’t, which is disappointing.  I would have signed up instantly.  I like their products so well, I’m sure other internet campers would too.

Dangers of Tumescent Liposuction**

Posted by Thinker on Jan 24, 2009 in Thinkable

Liposuction is a process in which fatty deposits are sucked from certain regions of the body in order to create an appearance that is slimmer. This type of surgery is used to eliminate fat reservoirs from the chin, buttocks, thighs, hips, abdomen and other desired areas. A needle known as a cannula is placed in the fatty region and then a vacuum suction is applied to remove the fat containing fluid. A modern technique of performing this procedure is recognised as tumescent liposuction which has some dangers.

Tumescent liposuction is an overall harmless procedure due to many factors. It is only designed to suck out fat and does not non-specifically remove blood and other necessary tissues. It does not cause significant discomfort as local anaesthesia is used. It is less invasive relative to prior techniques, thus lessening the risk of acquiring secondary infections. It is for these motives that tumescent liposuction remains as an admired choice to remove unwanted fat.

However, despite these advantages, turbulescent liposuction carries many documented medical risks. These incidences can be fatal and can even culminate into death of the patient. It is not apparent whether other factors may have influenced the casualty of this procedure with these cases.

The antibiotic treatment, lidocaine is taken before the procedure to reduce the risk of an infection. Lidocaine has also been demonstrated to lower the heart rate with those patients with heart palpitations. However, the administration of lidocaine for the purpose of liposuction in patients without a fast heart rate, can lead to bradicardia (a reduction in heart rate) accompanied by a drastic reduction in blood pressure which can lead to death. Additionally, lidocaine can interact with other medications concomitantly producing side-effects, some which may be severe.

Tumescent liposuction has resulted in several cases in which death occurred from the over accumulation of fluids. Usually, this procedure is performed with incorporating additional fluids into the patient to prevent dehydration. However, in these cases, the excess fluid has built up in the lungs, a condition known as pulmonary edema. This in turn, causes the inability of the patient to breath and ultimately results in respiratory failure.

Throughout the duration of the tumescent procedure, there is also the threat of forming a blood clot in the lungs, resulting in a condition known as pulmonary thromboembolism, which can be fatal if the blood clot occludes the flow of blood to the heart.

All of these potential consequences that may occur during the tumescent liposuction procedure indicate that this procedure can be quite risky to the general health of the patient. Therefore, these disadvantages should be carefully weighed up with the benefits of the patient. Cosmetic enhancement may be the only major advantage of why people may undergo the procedure. However, it is important to realise that there are natural safer methods that serves as the same purpose without the requirement for this type of surgery.
