Bathroom Renovations Can Be As Easy or Complicated As You Want It To Be

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

Bathroom remodeling is challenging because plumbing and electrical are required, new fixtures are expensive, and the finished room has to stand up to everyday use. Get step-by-step advice from a seasoned professional with years of bathroom remodeling experience. Bathroom remodeling is a serious job. But, bathroom remodeling is a simple and effective way to not only increase the value of your home but to increase the livability of it as well. Bathroom remodeling is not only fun but significant changes can be accomplished with modifications in lighting, color, surface materials, and ventilation. Bathroom remodeling is sometimes an unplanned event due to damage from a water leak or some other type of damage. In this case, it may include the entire room or it may just be a confined area such as flooring or maybe the cabinetry holding the plumbing.

Small bathroom makeovers can pay off right from the start. Making over the bathroom on a tight budget simply means improving what is already there. There are many different bathroom designs to consider as your embark on your journey. Your home will be more comfortable and you’ll add value to the property.

Tubs

Tub and shower enclosures can be retiled. Floors, too, often receive special attention, with the installation of quality ceramic or stone tile, baseboards or the latest in heated flooring. Tub repairs help new construction contractors repair new tubs that have been scratched or gouged during construction. Instead of replacing such new tubs, they are repaired.

Flooring

Flooring is a major undertaking in some bathrooms and if, after the floor is installed the homeowner decides of different cabinets, the flooring may not match as well. When sketching out the bathroom remodeling ideas make sure all of the items that matter will also be available when the next phase begins. Floor tiles can be used on walls; however a good tile retailer should offer plenty of tiles that offer floor and wall tiles that match in design and vary in size, to allow you to customize the design. You will always need the proper flooring for bathroom makeovers.

Showers

Shower doors with a rubber flange at the bottom can provide a better seal than curtains, but they’re more expensive. Their size and rigidity can also restrict maneuverability. Showers are becoming more and more attractive with new technology. Your shower can be turned into a steam room, stimulate hydro massages, and for your convenience they now come in multiple shower heads. Showers now have wide but soft streams of water and the power shower, as sometimes referred to, is no longer being used anymore. In addition, the demand for steam showers when its time for bathroom remodeling is increasing significantly.

Bathroom remodeling is strong, as most bathrooms become outdated in 15 years. With many consumers becoming dissatisfied with their current bath, and more aware of industry trends, bathroom renovation is seeing unprecedented growth. Bathroom remodeling is one of the home renovations that can add a lot of value to your home when you list it for sale. The key to getting potentials buyers to want to buy your home is to use simple sleek bathroom fixtures. Bathroom remodeling is a serious job.

Xbox 360 Break Down Guide

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

Machines tend to break down. That’s just how they are. They tear, waste, use, overheat, fail, etc. Microsoft’s second entry in the video game console industry, the Xbox 360, is no exception. And it’s also known for its hardware failures, the most common being the Xbox 360 three flashing red lights, also known as “the red ring of death.”

The primary cause of Xbox 360 failure is related to a design flaw in the launch version of the console which uses 90nm technology. Essentially, the Xbox has an inadequate cooling system which results in damage to the components. This damage leads to glitches and eventually the so called “red ring of death”. Don’t worry: Your Xbox Live Account and your Xbox 360 achievements are not broken. Luckily, later version with 65nm technology are not affected.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 console has several ways that tell technicians what the problem probably is. One is through the four green lights that are around the power button. When they change to red and flash, they are trying to tell you something. If there’s only 1 flashing red light, then your Xbox 360 is pretty much dead. If you see 2 red lights, it means your Xbox 360 overheated and you should turn it off for a while to let it cool.

If this happens often, you might want to get a fan accessory to help it ventilate. If there are on your Xbox 360 3 flashing red lights, it means that something is wrong with the hardware, but don’t worry. It can be fixed. Finally, 4 flashing red lights just mean that you didn’t connect your cables properly. The 4 lights won’t flash if you connected the Xbox 360 wifi in a wrong way.

And one can identify Red Ring of Death (RROD) problem with their Xbox if they find any of following problem with their console:

* Disc Error problems
* Xbox freezing problem
* Abnormal sound from your Xbox
* Unable to play your Xbox

Once your Xbox breaks down you are left with very few options. Microsoft states that the average wait time for a repair is 4-6 weeks and that the cost of the repair would be $140. That’s in addition to shipping and handling charges! Another option will have you up and running again in less than an hour. This involves purchasing a do-it-yourself repair guide online. The top repair guides are very impressive and cost less than $30. These repair guides will focus on the how to fix your red ring problem and how to make sure it does not happen again.

The easiest way to do an Xbox 360 red ring fix is to prevent the problem from happening at all. If you bought your Xbox 360 within a few months after launch day, do yourself a favor and buy the fan. Also, never, ever place your Xbox (or any other electronic device) next to a heat source. Some people tend to cram all their devices together, TV, DVD player, CD player, VCR, Xbox 360, Playstation, Nintendo Gamecube, etc., which causes them to heat each other. Always leave some space between your Xbox and everything else. This will not only keep it from receiving heat from other devices, but it will also keep the ventilation holes open and with plenty of space to operate.

It’s also a good idea to clean the back of your Xbox 360 from time to time. Just brush off with a dry cloth all the dust and dirt that accumulates in the back of it. It will not only prevent the red light problem, but it will lengthen the life of your Xbox 360.

Real Time MLM Leads Can Give You Explosive Business Growth

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

How Real Time Leads Can Change Your Business If you have ever looked into buying MLM leads online you have probably heard of ‘Real Time Leads. You have probably also noticed that they are more expensive than many of the other types of leads out there. There is a reason for that. Real Time Leads have the ability to change your MLM business.

A Real Time Lead is a form of MLM leads that allows you to know when someone has shown interest in learning about a home based business opportunity – in real time. The moment that they provide their contact information and request that someone contact them with information about a home based business you are sent their MLM lead information. I know what you’re thinking… “So What? Why is this so important?”

A real time lead is up to 100 times more likely to enroll in your opportunity if you call them right when they request information. This is when their interest in a home based business is the highest that it will ever be, and they are already in ‘buying mode.’ By calling your Real Time Lead right away you may even get in touch with them while they are still on your website. They get the feeling that they are involved and important enough for you to call them right away rather than being put off until later. “So, how does this differ from other fresh leads?”

Simply put ‘the early bird gets the worm.’ No matter how early you get to your MLM lead you are always second to the person who got there before you. In the case of home based business leads you are on the clock. For every second that passed between the time when your Real Time Lead requested to be contacted and the time that you made the call you have lost a portion of their interest. They have moved off of your site and became distracted by another thought. The rest of their life reared its head and they had to run off to do an errand to cook a meal for their children.

All of these things place your opportunity on the ‘back burner’ in their mind. Letting your opportunity lose focus also means that it loses importance in the mind of your MLM lead. No matter how fresh your lead is it isn’t going to be able to provide the instant response that a Real Time Lead can provide. Your response time can make all the difference when dealing with your home based business leads, and that is where Real Time Leads have the advantage. “What if I go away for a weekend – will I lose the leads that I paid for during that time?” This depends on the MLM Leads Company that you are dealing with but many MLM Companies allow you to ‘pause’ your leads until you reactivate your service. When you are looking for a company that provides Real Time Leads you should always look for a company that only charges you for the leads that you actually get.

If your MLM leads campaign is paused you shouldn’t be billed because leads aren’t being sent to you. If you have never used the power of a Real Time Lead to accelerate your business I would recommend that you give it a try. When it comes to MLM leads there really isn’t anything more powerful than a home business lead provided in real time. The Dreaded Facebook Screen of Death

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

You’ve probably heard a lot of things about Facebook being one of the best social networking sites out there.  It has lapped and gotten much more buzz than its competitors MySpace and LinkedIn.

However, it’s achieved these lofty heights because it is believed to be far less spammy and more real than the other social networking sites in the marketplace.

Whether this belief and reputation is true or not is highly debatable because I’ve been a Facebook user for about 19 months now and have seen the level of spam slowly creep up.

I had over 3000 friends in my Facebook account.

I tell you this not to brag but simply to point out I was a heavy user of Facebook.  And admittedly most of these were business contacts not personal friends I had met in the off-line world.

I used it mainly for networking with people who are interested in the kind of business and markets I am in.

I even built up 4 groups with 500 plus members each and two of those groups had over 1200 members each.

Of course, I was a member of probably about 50 groups and got quite a few e-mails from them each day.  And lots of times I didn’t have the time to fully read through all of those e-mail communications from the groups I was a part of.

So the point is you must make sure your communications have highly valuable subject lines, with high levels mysterious and value provided so your group members will open them because it’s just like any other e-mail inbox in that you have to compete with many other messages for the attention of your group members.

Your goal is to be the ‘go-to’ source they trust and look for whenever they want info about your market.

So I was bopping along enjoying my Facebook experience when…disaster struck.

Unfortunately, a crazy thing happened to me on Monday, January 12, 2009.

I’d gotten a couple email notifications that I needed to respond to from friends. So I went to the site and it gave me the login screen.

And that’s when the unthinkable happened…

It gave me the message and I paraphrase “your account has been disabled by an administrator”.

“How could this be?”  I asked myself

I hadn’t even log in to Facebook since Thursday of the previous week and this was Monday so how did my account get shut down over the weekend. There was no activity at all much less suspicious activity to warrant them shutting me down.

Since I began using the site in July of 2007 I’d gotten caught in their “account warning” filters twice. My account had been disabled due to this.

Basically, I had been adding friends in groups I was part of too rapidly with the same canned message using Roboform.  And so the Facebook administrators re-enabled my account after telling me not to do the suspicious activity anymore.

After the account mishap I’d been very careful and not done any friend adds because by that point many people were friending me.

The fact my account got shut down without warning and for no reason had me greatly confused.

After talking to a few of my expert friends I had a theory as to why it happened.

It seems Facebook is now cracking down on promotion to groups even though that’s the way they’ve wanted you to be able to mass communicate in the past.  I guess now with Microsoft and the other people being heavily invested they only want promotional messages to go out through their pay per click advertising system or their social ads.

In talking with my contact he said he talked with a few of his friends and had seen about eight groups deleted because the group admin was consistently making promotional e-mail communications to those groups.

I had sent out a subtle e-mail communication with a link to an opt in page to all four of my groups on Thursday.  I did this because I was helping a friend launch a new product about Google Friend Connect and I varied the words I used in each of those e-mails so as not to upset the Facebook gods.

Unfortunately, I was unaware of this new policy about how the social networking site is no longer allowing promotions to groups and so I got snared apparently by their filters and my account shutdown.

This week I’ve contacted Facebook via e-mail twice and I’ve gotten no replies as to why my account was shut down nor gotten it rightfully reinstated.

This is extremely unfair to me and all the thousands of man-hours I’ve put into building my profile as well as the thousands of connections I’ve made and the people who count on me for the information I provide them.

But it’s like falling into a black hole where there’s no person you can contact to get your account back.

So here’s what you should do…follow their rules as much as you can. Only add 20 or so friends a day and don’t send out anything promotional. Get people to contact you through other means to make an offer to them.

Facebook is still a great and high growth platform with over 140 million users now.  You just have to be very careful when you’re using it so you can avoid the fate I suffered and the thousands of man-hours now down the tubes because of an unpublicized policy shift.

So happy Facebooking and beware.

Why and How To Have a Company Picnic!

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

For many people, the workplace environment provides an opportunity to make friendships that thrive for many years. Sitting behind a desk or working in a factory line makes it difficult to be social with coworkers and to develop potential friendships. In the city of Philadelphia, a city filled with fun loving sociable folks, attending a company sponsored picnic allows the chance to meet fellow workers. Philadelphia company picnics can involve the entire family giving spouses and children an opportunity to meet their loved one’s office mates.

A company’s management that sponsors an annual picnic and encourages the employees to attend, sets an example of working together and getting to know each other in a casual an informal way. The outing can develop close bonds with managers and employees that will continue to be a productive incentive during the work week.

Where to Meet

An ideal place to hold a Philly company picnic is at a local community park. If games are included, there should be a large grassy area and a playground for the kids. A covered area with picnic tables is important for inclement weather protection. A location in close proximity to the office makes the planning easier and encourages greater participation.

Equipment and Games

One of the best ways to get people talking is to have them participate in a team game. If space and equipment are available, softball, volleyball or badminton mixes people together in a fun and active way. Some of the picnic tables can be set with board games or card games for less strenuous involvement. There should be several planned children’s activities for various ages. Music adds to the atmosphere either with a live band if the budget allows or with CD’s and a portable player.

Catered or Potluck

If possible, a company picnic where food is provided allows a carefree atmosphere and easy planning for the picnic committee. Catering services provide simple fare: hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. or if a cold buffet is desired sandwiches and picnic salads work well. Depending on the budget restraints, sodas and water could be included or the employees might be asked to bring their own drinks. For smaller Philadelphia based companies, a potluck buffet saves costs and gives the workers or their families a chance to share their favorite recipe.

Corporate parties in Philly create a festive mood that can uplift workers spirits and improve working relationships.

Information About Skin Cancer Prevention Today

Posted by Thinker on Jan 21, 2009 in Thinkable

Ninety percent of melanomas are from a lack of skin cancer prevention. The American Cancer Society reports on their web site that ten percent of melanomas, a form of skin cancer, are due to family history and genetics. It is not always easy to avoid sun exposure, but you should always wear some form of protection, whether it is a lotion or a piece of clothing. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting men and women, but it is also the most preventable.

Skin cancer comes in two forms, melanomas and non-melanomas. Melanomas usually account for only four percent of diagnosed skin cancers, but they are considered to be the most deadly. Melanomas occur in the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer, usually appearing as a dark mole with uneven edges. If detected early through skin cancer prevention, melanomas can be eliminated without causing harm. If ignored, these cancers can break away and spread to other parts of the body. Non-melanomas, on the other hand, are comprised of two different cell types, basal cells and squamous cells. Both of these cells are caused from sun exposure, but basal cells form in the lower epidermis while squamous cells form in the upper epidermis.

When you are young, skin cancer prevention is probably not on your list of top priorities. But it should be since skin cancer rates are continuing to rise each year. The excessive use of tanning beds and sunlamps can be a cause for the increase in skin cancer cases. These beds are not a safe replacement for sun exposure because they still omit harmful rays that could lead to skin cancer. It is also important to know where your highest risks lie for developing skin cancer because everyone has different skin types. Individuals with light skin, freckles or light colored hair are more susceptible to the sun’s rays. It is also known that more cases of skin cancer show up in Caucasians than in African-Americans. Before going outside, it is also important to learn your family’s history on skin cancer because this could increase your own risks.

Sunscreen is recommended as a form of protection against the sun. The American Cancer Society urges the use of waterproof sunscreen that has an SPF15 or more of both UVA and UVB protection. You should also apply at least an ounce of sunscreen for your body twenty minutes before going out into the sun. Too often, individuals forget to re-apply their sunscreen after being exposed to harmful UVA and UVB rays. Also be sure to avoid the sun during 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. because this is when the sun’s rays are most intense. Staying unprotected in the sun during this time is when you put yourself in the danger zone for damaging healthy skin cells.

Proper skin cancer prevention should be practiced by everyone in your family, even babies. Doctors recommend babies that are six months or younger stay out of the sun. Teaching your children to be sun smart is important for their health too. Find shady areas when you take them outside to play and be sure they have the proper protection on. Clothing is another way to protect yourself and your family from harmful rays. Wear hats that have wide brims to cover all areas of your neck, ears, eyes and scalp.

We protect ourselves from other potential harms in life by going to the doctor regularly or wearing our seatbelts while riding in a car. Although, it is easy to forget your skin needs good protection too. This is why skin cancer prevention is so important for everyone in your family. The sun’s rays may be useful for solar power but are nothing to toy around with and everyone should always use proper protection when going outside.
