What is a thermal printer?

Posted by Thinker on Jan 18, 2009 in Thinkable

Thermal printers are used to transfer an impression onto paper using heat. There are two types of thermal printers. Direct Thermal Printers and Thermal Wax Transfer printers.

Direct thermal printers use direct heat from elements to burn an image directly onto the page. This was a method originally used in early fax machines and is still an effective method of printing today.

Thermal wax transfer uses a printer that adheres a wax-based ink onto paper. A thermal printhead melts wax-based ink from the transfer ribbon onto the paper. When cool, the wax is permanent. This type of thermal printer uses an equivalent panel of ink for each page to be printed, no matter if a full page or only one line of print is transferred. Monochrome printers have a black page for each page to be printed, while color printers have either three (CMY) or four (CMYK) colored panels for each page. Unlike thermal dye transfer printers , also called dye sublimation printers, these printers print images as dots, which means that images must be dithered first. As a result, images are not quite photo-realistic, although they are very good. The big advantages of these printers over thermal dye transfer printers are that they don’t require special paper and they are faster.

Both of these printers can be used as plastic card printers. PVC card printing is an art unto itself as PVC Cards generally need to be more resilient than conventional paper cards. As a result, special methods usually need to be employed to ensure that the image or information is firmly ingrained on the card but this does mean that these types of cards can typically be used for membership cards and ID cards.

Thermal printing is an exceedingly effective method of ensuring the adherence of your information to the PVC Card as it is both permanent and relatively cost effective.

A Burning Trial of Zune Accessories

Posted by Thinker on Jan 18, 2009 in Thinkable

While on a current journey to Aspen, some friends of mine, concluded it would be a nice thought to blind date me with someone. Let me ask you this, have you ever known anyone who found the love of there desires after being set up by there associates? Well I haven’t. Heck, I haven’t even known anyone who is still together at all, after being set up. Well anyway this was a genuine classic crash.

I love my friends, to be sure, but its taking me a little bit to get to the point where I am ready to take another trip with them. I’ll start with the microsoft zune accessories. Some of you are asking, what the heck is a zune and what would belkin zune accessories even look like? These are entirely valid questions, but we don’t have the time to answer them, I apologize. Lets just say, an MP3 player and the stuff that goes with them.

She, this lady I was with, would not stop talking about her rotten zune and, “all the unbelievable accessories”, that she had. I mean really, over three and half hours of talking, and when she was talking, it was about this MP3 player. Well, we had been drinking for most of the night and by 11 o’clock or so, we had all had enough. Helen, that was her name, incredibly had yet to show us this amazing thing, and in hind sight, she definitely should not have.

So, six beers and two glasses of wine later, out comes this stunning piece of technology, and before you know it, snatch and into the fire place goes this thing! I apologize, I know it was unjust, and a terrible thing to do.

Creating Web Pages

Posted by Thinker on Jan 18, 2009 in Thinkable

The Internet is probably already our prime source of entertainment these days. I mean, come on, think about how much time you actually spend online. We download music, watch movies, send email, work, write, and frolic endlessly in cyberspace, you name it. Suddenly, all the rage is to create web pages. Everyone seems to want their own website or page to post whatever.

Web pages are owned by countless computer goers. The big thing is, they’re free. If you desire your own personal space for others to review and comment, no problem, it’s available. Everyone is taking advantage of this goldmine of freedom and space that comes without a price tag, and the best thing is, it is infinite. It literally can’t run out.

Internet sites such as smplanet.com and superpages.com will aid you in your journey to a personal web page. You can actually create web pages in minutes. Other sites like myspace.com are ruled by millions of random people, just looking for a place to post pictures and info about their selves and families. It is a good way to communicate and share on a public site without the hassle of monthly fees.

Although these personal web pages have become so popular, there are measures to take when diving into cyberspace. We have to remember that once we post information on these public sites, our lives can be viewed by millions, and we may not always like who’s viewing. It is always good to be careful as to what you post for the world to see.

The phenomenal Internet has provided all of us with a modem, access to infinite things. Creating web pages is just another cog in the machine. The idea and possibilities are endless. If you wish to create a web page for mere blogging, this is an option as well. For those who are not blog savvy, let me offer a quick clarification. Blogging has become prominent for many reasons. Two of which are; it’s free, and it’s easy. If you’re looking to sell something, start a blog, if you’re looking to get advice, start a blog, if you’re trying to buy stuff, start a blog, or even if you’re looking for employees of some sort and wish for a larger audience, start a blog. A good site to check into in reference to blogging is blogger.com, which is also free.

Yes, creating your own web pages is certainly a popular choice these days. If you’re looking to post without dealing with fees or monthly charges, no worries, the Internet has it covered.
