The easy way to run a background check

Posted by Thinker on Dec 31, 2008 in Thinkable

There’s plenty of good times to use a criminal background check.  Sometimes you want to look into the background of a potential employee, other times you want to check into a person you or a family member just started dating and sometimes you are just curious about somebody’s past.

Many people are under the impression that a criminal record check is difficult to do - however it’s actually incredibly simple.

Thanks to the internet, you can do this type of search right from your computer.  There’s nothing complicated about it and you can get results in just minutes.

As you might already know, in the past you had to go to a private investigator or investigative company to look into someone’s criminal history.  These individuals or companies would charge a hefty fee in return for them “snooping around” and discovering details on the person’s past.

Thankfully, it’s a lot easier these days.  Everything can be done online and the cost is next to nothing.

There are huge databases that have been built by certain companies in order to provide the public with an easy way to run a background check.  These databases include all sorts of background records - this includes criminal and court records, along with other forms of public and government documents.

You simply have to go to the company’s website, enter the details on the person you are curious about, and within minutes you will have full details on their past.  It’s a useful tool to have up your sleeve!

All the Groomsme Gift Ideas that You Will Need

Posted by Thinker on Dec 31, 2008 in Thinkable

Selecting the ideal gifts for your groomsmen could be a really challenging process. Since typical weddings consist of more than a single groomsman, it could be very difficult to search for a good gift that all of your buddies would enjoy. The male species are not exactly famous for their love of gift buying or for their gift giving skills.

Before even looking for your cool groomsmen gifts, you should give some thought to your budget first. Also know that if you are giving different presents, you should attempt to spend roughly the same amount of money for every of your groomsmen. In that way, you won’t leave one of your groomsmen out in the cold.

A few of the more traditional groomsmen gifts are things such as knives, flasks, or pocket watches. Each of them is a manly gift and it would surely be appreciated by your friends. If you are not into giving traditional gifts, you could also think about more strange groomsmen gifts. Some unique groomsmen gift ideas are presenting engraved stainless steel golf tees or giving them a few shares of their favorite company’s stocks.

There are several presents that are suitable for all the guys in your wedding. But then, since every person seems to have a unique personality, they would most likely love your present more if you would give them something that cater to their different tastes. One of the most charming groomsmen gift ideas is to give them gift certificates to their frequently shopped stores. They would be able to shop for anything they desire but it will still be your gift.

If after all this time you are still unsure as to what to get.  Then simply trust your instint and go with something that you would like yourself such as  personalized pub signs.  This way, if they do not like it, then they can always give it back to you.

Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones Review

Posted by Thinker on Dec 31, 2008 in Thinkable

If you don’t like bulky headphones, be prepared for a nice surprise. Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones can give you the same quality sound (or even better) without having your head encased by uncomfortable headphones. Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones fit inside your ear securely and give you exceptional clarity of sound, but also block out outside noise. Sound quality is professional and unsurpassed. Use them with portable audio or video devices such as your DVD, MP3, or CD players.

Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones provide superior sound detail and quality. For the perfect fit, they also come with triple flange, foam or flex accessory sleeves. Their plug is 1/8″, too, so that they are compatible with a lot of other audio applications.

Using the same components that professional musicians do on stage, Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones use tuned port technology and high-definition drivers so that you have ultra wide frequency, incredible high notes and amazing bass.

You’ll have to take a little bit of time to learn how to use Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones, but it’s worth the effort. They need careful insertion for the best sound quality. You can’t really take them out quickly, either, and you have to do so very carefully. They seat very securely in your ear, so you’ll have to remove them carefully. If you don’t, and try to do so quickly, you’ll get a “sucking effect” when you take them out that might be uncomfortable for you.

Shure E4c Sound Isolating Earphones are very good at isolating outside sounds, so good that you shouldn’t use them in situations where you’re going to have to hear outside sounds. Don’t drive or jog with them, and don’t use them when you have to hear what’s going on around you.

Basement Waterproofing Materials and Uses

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2008 in Thinkable

Materials used to waterproof basements can differ a lot in their forms and applications. There will be ones accessible to the general public and others accessible just to industry professionals. Let’s check whatever the situation is and learn from it for your own home condition.

First of all though, you need to be aware that the area you live in also affects the amount of water that’s likely to be around. So take that into consideration as this will also influence the type of materials you can use.

The first type of basement waterproofing materials that most people seem to be looking for are simple sealants. In other words, they have a basement that has already had some form of waterproofing applied to it and are looking to patch small damp areas up. RadonSeal being one of the top-end sealants treats poured concrete, mortar in block walls or stone foundations and concrete or cinder blocks.

If the whole basement including the walls and floor are not treated completely with sealant the water is likely to come back in. As it comes with a limited 20-year guarantee, this product is a practical option. Sealant is a potential problem to be aware of, (all sealants, not just this particular one)basement waterproofing sealants only protect the inside of the basement. This means there could be a number of water pressing against and through whatever other stuff the basement walls are created with.

Other avenues will need to be explored if you have cracks in the wall. Plaster coating can be used to the existing plaster if that is what the walls are made from. Chip away any loose material from around the crack and simply refill with the plaster.

One other option which is available is to use a stitching material. These metal staples are stapled across the cracks to prevent or limit further movement. The cracks are then filled with any cement that doesn’t shrink.

Gunite (a form of concrete) can be sprayed on bigger cracks in basement walls or floors. The special spraying equipment that is required can be rented. The mixture ratio must be correct for the spray to fill any cracks and leave a smooth finish. But it is still a good choice, because it adhere to most surfaces.

It has to be mentioned that the key to basement waterproofing is not only the substance but its proper application as well. In addition, you should be making sure there is as little water as possible getting into the ground water.

So also consider:

  • - maintaining rain gutters that are in excellent shape.
  •

  • - sloping the ground away from the foundation of the house
  •

  • - grass can be seeded around the foundations once the flower beds, bushes and trees have been removed
  •

  • - filling up driveway cracks
  •

  • - put in some curtain drains to move water from the surface away from the base of the home
  •

  • - putting in dry wells for the rain water spouting at a minimum of ten feet from the house.
  •

  • - installment of sump pumps.
  •

  • - water can be routed to a floor drain through the use of interior gutters in the basement walls
  •

Why the Dollar is Not Money

Posted by Thinker on Dec 30, 2008 in Thinkable

Few people realize that the dollar is not money and so they leave themselves open to be robbed. The dollar is a fraud that has been foisted on an unsuspecting public by governments inflating the money supply. Let me explain.

Real money has certain desirable features that allow it to function in commerce. These required features or criteria were developed over centuries of experience in trade. Time tested features of true money include -

    1. It must be a medium of exchange. In other words it must be available in sufficient quantity, be easily tradable, and have only a small difference in price between buying and selling. The money should be easy to transport - which is facilitated if it has a high value to weight ratio. In some of these respects the dollar qualifies as a medium of exchange, but read on.

    2. It needs to be a unit of account. The money should be capable of being divided into smaller units without damaging its value. In the case of precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum, they can be traded as bars or melted down and formed into much smaller units like coins, and if required, melted down into bars again. This is why olden day barter goods like wheat or animals are not suitable as money.

    3. It must also be fungible. This means that any one unit should be identical to another of the same unit. For example two coins of the same unit should be identical in size, weight, and metallic content.

    4. It helps if money is a fixed weight or measure so that it is easy to count. Paper notes for example have different face values but weigh the same, making them a poor measure.

    5. Most importantly, money should be a store of value. After all, if you exchange goods or property for money you want something of equivalent value in exchange. Paper money is just pieces of paper with pictures on it and has no intrinsic worth, yet every day people exchange worthless pieces of paper for physical goods. This state of affairs has only existed in the last century and will not last much longer.

    6. The value must be stable and not subject to major fluctuations, and it must be real and genuine, not an artificially created value, as with paper money.

    7. In addition it should be difficult to counterfeit while still being easy to recognize. Once again paper money fails this test.

Centuries, and indeed millenia, have resulted in two metals in particular  assuming a leading role as money. These metals are gold and silver, with copper filling a minor role. Gold and Silver meet all the requirements listed above.

When gold and silver were used as money, inflation was vitually unknown. Inflation is associated with the fiat money (paper money) system that is now in place across the world. Governments print paper money (or the electronic equivalent) in steadily increasing amounts which inflates the money supply. This increased money supply pushes up the prices of the fixed amount of goods and services that are available. This is what causes inflation. Inflation is a thief which steals your wealth because the value of your cash is continually decreasing. A dollar today will only buy 5% of what a dollar could buy back in the 1920’s when the U.S. and most countries were still on a gold based monetary system.

One way to preserve wealth in inflationary times is to purchase items which are stores of value. Anything which cannot be produced in ever increasing amounts qualifies, but only gold and silver which are limited in supply, and difficult to obtain, are qualified to also act as money. Gold bullion and silver bullion, along with gold coins and silver coins are becoming increasingly scarce as investors seek to preserve their wealth in these inflationary times. Supply is diminishing while demand is increasing. Check out the prices and availability online and buy bullion while you still can. The dollar is about to be consigned to the scrap heap of history, to be replaced by real money.

    The Rules of Social Media

Posted by Thinker on Dec 29, 2008 in Thinkable

Social media is simple to understand because it’s basic human interaction.  I’m going to outline for you how I visualize this process so hopefully it will be very easy for you to an act in your own business and online activities.

Social media is like a big worldwide party.  The most important factor is the ability for back and forth interaction, for two-way communication. Tools like Google Friend Connect make this all the more easy.

It’s different than traditional marketing like you see in normal advertising channels on TV and radio stations.  For this reason is why most of the big companies screw this up when they attempt a social media marketing campaign and it always falls flat.

Inside a bar or club do you immediately just walk up to people and start saying “hey buy my stuff” or “hey join my MLM business”.

I doubt you do but if you are this guy you no doubt get escorted out of the party and your reputation precedes you.  Then I doubt you get invited to any more parties in the future and the ones you do are low class which no one wants to be at anyway.

What you most likely do when you go to a party is begin friendly chats with no pressure or selling and then start a back-and-forth exchange.

You may ask what kind of work the person you’re talking to does and they may respond in kind and then you can start talking about philosophy or politics or other topics of mutual interest.

Even when you’re talking about your job though the prospect of sales almost never comes up because when people are in a party they don’t want to be sold something.

So why then is this basically what people do online?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten a random e-mail on Facebook or MySpace saying “hey check out my site” or “hey buy this”.

I know why you continue to see it because programs can be built which make this kind of thing profitable.

My friend was telling me a story of a guy who basically spammed MySpace walls selling ring tones and made $250,000 inside of six months.

Of course, the police have been circling his house and he’s under constant fear of being taken in.  But this is how these things continue to perpetuate on the Internet.

Basically, the biggest thing is to interact on the social sites the way you would at a party in an off-line situation.

initiate communication through a wink or email exchange saying hi and asking about something you saw on their profile and see if they respond in kind.  After a strong back and forth and hopefully when they ask then you can say “hey if you want to learn more about me check out my blog here”.

Your blog gives them insight into you and your business at their discretion.  And they can refer you to people they know would be interested and want to buy your stuff.

Either way your blog is your combo of business front and personal space where you can tell your friends about yourself and what you do.

Do as these rules instruct and you’ll have a strong presence in social media.

Disobey these rules like an insolent dog and you’ll be struck down (not really but you’ll probably get banned).

    Cheap Cars

Posted by Thinker on Dec 28, 2008 in Thinkable

Cars are a symbol of power.  We’ve all seen the stories about moguls with multi-story garages and huge luxury car collections.  Cheap cars are the way to go for some folks.  Poor quality doesn’t necessarily follow cheap price.  Less costly can still be exciting to drive. Any car you choose, be sure to get a good car insurance.

A used car purchase can save a lot of money.  Even luxury models are much less expensive when purchased second handSecond hand luxury models are cheaper than new.  High quality used cars have come to be called pre-owned.  Some people who always bought new have crossed over into pre-owned.  Consider this with luxury cars.  Some cars like the Mercedes are so well built they are still new feeling after a decade.  A lot of people buy slightly used instead of new car after car.Driving Miss Daisy immortalized this concept as Hoak, the driver, kept buying Miss Daisy’s used cars.

Some cheap new cars are quite nice, too.  The Hyundai Elantra is a quality car under $12,000.  A car like the Honda Civic weighs in at about $15,000 for one of the best engineered cars in the world.  That car lasts a long time, and gets great gas mileage.  These cars are also much cheaper to maintain than luxury cars that often require more expensive parts and even premium grades of gas.  If you are planning in getting professional car insurance advice, checkout the price, as car insurance rates are rising.

Another area to look is cheaper, if not really cheap, luxury cars.  The Audi brand is generally at the bottom portion of the price spectrum in the luxury class.  Audi boasts the top engineered cars in the world, bar none.  A less expensive luxury sports car is the Audi TT.

Of course some people want cheap, cheaper, cheapest.  They turn to the clunker, the hooptie, the ancient model car that was probably old when their parents first bought a car.  Teenagers often purchase such a car as their first vehiclePeople often purchase such a car as a first vehicle for a teen.  As long as it’s safe to drive, it gets them from A to B.  Be careful because cheap cars can be busts.  When the car overheats, you won’t be happy.

Though not effective her hair look loss remedies.

Posted by Thinker on Dec 27, 2008 in Thinkable

Anxiety and stress can be negative effects of hair loss. Whether we like it or not, people in our society judge us by our appearance, and hair is an important factor in that appearance. Losing your hair can affect your perception of yourself and your self-esteem as well as wreck your social life. Numerous remedies are on the market for hair loss but no cure exists.

One hair loss remedy is simply to learn to live with it. It is, after all, a common, normal process that many go through much like acne (Clearpores). Hair loss can lead to self-esteem problems which may require counseling.

Hair styling and cosmetic techniques are two possible “fixes” for many who suffer from hair loss or thinning hair. Changing your hair colour or cut to hide up your hair loss can have a huge impact on your self-esteem.

A hair loss remedy approved by the FDA and used by many is Provillus which treats pattern hair loss in both males and females. Though not always effective in promoting new hair growth, if used regularly, Provillus can be effective in slowing or even stopping hair loss.

If you’re looking for a remedy for hair loss, you may want to check into hair attachments. When wanting their hair to look fuller, people may choose attachments consisting of human hair and synthetic fibers.

They are kept on by being anchored to the existing hair, skin, or grafted on through surgical techniques.

Hair transplant or replacement surgery can be expensive but well worth the results. In this procedure, healthy follicles are transplanted in areas of baldness, the effectiveness of the procedure is improving over the years.

Note: Please consult a doctor before taking any medical advice.
