An Alternative Fuel to Gas - Water?

Posted by Thinker on Nov 30, 2008 in Thinkable

What a year, beginning of the year OIL was approaching $200, and now in the month of October, oil has dived down to $60 per barrel…what the!  And throw in the financial crisis … thanks to the so called ‘know all’ fat cats - the world is tittering on global disaster.  Now is the time to tighten up our pockets and one of the best way to start is with the car.  And with so many water for fuel options around … let’s look at 3 of the popular ebooks going around -

Water4Gas eBook, RunYourCarOnWater and Gas4Free -

Below are 2 excerpt reviews of each product found online from ‘Ezinearticles’ -

Water4Gas eBook

1. “Water4Gas is a simple do-it-yourself device which is installed into you car. This device converts water into brown gas which is also known as hydrogen or HHO. It is then used to power your car. Everything is very simple, but don’t think that you will be able to use only water as a fuel, you will still need gasoline, hydrogen is only used as a supplemental fuel. You don’t need any special knowledge to do this device, the only thing you should do is to follow step-by-step instruction and plans. You will find all of the required materials in any hardware shop.” - Zac Bassham

2. “First thing is the actual books and the website. Everything is laid out pretty well and there is a lot of information. There is an extra book on gas saving tips that goes with it and all of the instructions to build and install their kits. The best part of Water4Gas in my opinion is the forum so you can actually ask other people for help.” - Jim Lofton

RunYourCaronWater

1. “But to correct the understanding of most folks, the water is not burnt as a fuel. So it is not exactly right scientifically and factually to use the term “water fuel”. Rather, this water is broken down by a electrolyzer into HHO, commonly called Brown’s gas to aid the combustion of gasoline. The engine still requires gas to power it.” - Davion Wong

2. “By using electrolysis (electricity) water can be converted into two types of flammable gases - Hydrogen and Oxyhydrogen. This is done by rearranging the same three atoms found in water H2O into a different molecular structure, you get a gas called HHO that burns very well and releases a lot of energy in the process. The source of electricity you need to convert water is found in the car battery. However, you will need to know how to use the car battery to electrolyze the water to convert into either Hydrogen gas or Oxyhydrogen gas. Once converted you will also have to navigate this gas into your gas tank to mix with the gasoline. By doing this, you are converting water into fuel, using water as an alternative fuel for your car and making your car run on water.” - Derek Bijnaam

Gas4Free

1. “It is an externally built system that can be inserted into a car to make hydrogen fuel. The end result is that you would be powering your car with a mixture of gasoline and water. This technology has actually already been found many years ago, but was never really commercialized due to its potentially serious impact on the oil industry.” - Judd Marshall

2. “Who can actually use Gas4free? I know that you will be very skeptical about the idea. Now, Gas 4 free is not that hard to do, in fact it was a 100% effective, easy solution that you can install without having to make any modification to your car’s engine. It can convert your car or trucks into an HHO machine within minutes.” - Mandy Clover

There you have it - key point here is, water is not the source that runs your car.  Water is one of many sources that are used to produce Brown Gas (HHO) , which then is used to power up your car, improve your car’s performance and save costs!   It’s a great way to save your fuel costs but more importantly, help to reduce ‘Green House’ gas emissions!

Principles of Fashion Design

Posted by Thinker on Nov 30, 2008 in Thinkable

Designing is a matter of mixing known elements in new and exciting ways in order to create fresh combinations and up-to-date products.  The main and most important elements in fashion design are silhouette, line and texture.  Ways in which these elements can be used are known in the fashion world as principles and consist of:  repetition, rhythm, graduation, radiation, contrast, harmony, balance and proportion.  Use of these elements, or variants, causes a response - sometimes very strong, sometimes subliminal - in the observer or in the wearer.

To understand and control these responses is essential in good designing.  It is not always clear why one design works where another does not.  Sometimes the response can be one of sheer utter distaste or shock.  However, the element of shock can be seen as a positive in the fashion clothing world. To be able to be articulate and have the ability to analyse what is happening with a garment allows correction, amplification and development of the design.

While a great deal of exciting design occurs through complete accident, it is an enormous advantage to be able to reflect on the work carried out, an to be able to explain what is intentional and to gauge how close, as a designer, you are to achieving your desired result.  It is extremely important  to have an awareness of the elements and principles of design which will also help you to evaluate other designer’s strengths and to spot trends and changes in the market.  Some fashion design colleges will teach the elements and principles in a formal way, whilst others will bring them into some project work or allow you to discover and experiment with them yourself without instruction.

Challenges about Autism and Vaccine Research Results

Posted by Thinker on Nov 30, 2008 in Thinkable

There have been several headlines recently telling that researchers have wiped out the tie in between autism and childhood vaccines. But have they?

Stories out of the UK have stated that there are ways to tell from intestinal bacteria whether autism is an issue for children that have had the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination. They have ended testing on children to determine if the children are having intestinal problems and if these problems are linked to the MMR vaccine.

New articles and info have appeared in light of these reports. The data strongly questions these reports at the very least, and in various articles, the subject field information is refuted in anger and frustration.

A few of the consequences that parents and researchers take exception to are the fact that the newest study actually took results from the study that found a link between intestinal and bowel disease in children with autism and agreed with it. Then, the same research workers turned around and ran their own exams to see what their determinations would be regarding the symptoms of autism.

There are issues with the testing that the researchers did. For one thing, only 5 minors were examined to see what their biopsies revealed about the MMR/bowel link. After reviewing the information regarding the 5 children,
In the United States there is a class action lawsuit that is strong interpreting the connection between MMR vaccine and autism, with parents of 5,000 minors asserting that their children started showing signals and symptoms of autism after getting the vaccine.

Autism Parents just want to know what is occurring to their children and why it is happening. They want and need to have correct responses. In order for that to happen, research needs to go forward. There is more consciousness in the United States considering autism and its stimulates, as opposed to the UK, whose budget for autism research is much too small, according to researchers, doctors and parents.

For the present time, however, there are still many unanswered questions and there are differences regarding whether or not vaccines and autism are associated. As research goes forward, we will have to wait for more certain answers.

As with any important medical decision, if you are thinking about vaccinating or not vaccinating your children, you should speak with your family physician.

Car Dvd Entertainment

Posted by Thinker on Nov 30, 2008 in Thinkable

Today’s auto market is becoming more and more varied, with Hummers lining up next to Smart Cars and Geo Metros in dealer lots.  One of the first things many people do when they buy a new vehicle is to make it their own by adding custom touches.  Bored spouses and kids make in car DVD systems one of the hottest new upgrades on the auto market.

Imagine, you’re headed across the country with your family to visit the in-laws in Omaha, and your kids are driving you crazy.  A car DVD system allows you to pop in one of their favorite movies and have them entertained for hours while on the road, now that is pure gold.

There are two main types of in car DVD systems: portable and in-dash.  Portable systems, though not as sleek or worry-free as the in-dash systems, are considerably cheaper and more versatile.  They are usually powered by your car’s 12-volt power adapter but can be converted to run from your home’s power supply, allowing you to take the DVD player and monitor into your in-laws house when your happy family arrives.

In-dash car DVD systems are hardwired into your vehicle’s entertainment system.  They display movies either on a screen in the centre-console, on a screen that descends from the roof of the vehicle, or on a screen which flips up from the dashboard.  Though these systems aren’t portable outside the vehicle, once installed they don’t require any extra cords or setup: you can load in your movies and drive away.  Screens located either on the centre-console or which flip up from the dashboard can double as displays for in-car GPS or navigation software, but they can be distracting to drivers.  The flip-down screens avoid driver distraction, but they are usually only convenient for back-seat viewing, leaving a front seat passenger to count license plates or play I-Spy with the driver.

In car DVD systems are perhaps the biggest boon to the long family road trip since Car Bingo, and as the technology improves you can expect the systems to get smaller, lighter, and cheaper.  Though portable systems are still the choice for families on the go since they require no expensive installation or conversion, more and more auto manufacturers have plans to include built-in systems in their vehicles, especially upscale and family autos.  It may be tough to find a driver for your next road trip, as the entire family will be stretched out in the back seat, munching on popcorn and watching a film.
